Rooted in an ecofeminist perspective, my landscape paintings unfold through a contemporary and distinctly feminist lens, challenging the historically entrenched narratives crafted predominantly by the western male viewpoint. Throughout history, the stories woven around nature and nonhuman living beings have been shaped through a singular lens—a lens that has often conflated nature with the female identity. In its darker manifestations, nature, akin to women, has been relegated to the status of a mere resource, subjected to exploitation, domination, and subjugation. At its best, nature has been idealized in ways that reinforce traditional female stereotypes—soft, pliant, delicate, and gentle. To redefine these narratives, I reconstruct landscapes from a female gaze.
