This series is the result of a new found passion for inking. It is inspired by a feeling of elsewhere--a visceral longing for somewhere else, an itch to sneak out, an discomfort of not belonging. The amorphous figures, called No-face, approximate the human physique but does not hint at specific identities. The settings and imageries all have familiar real life counterparts but are arranged surrealistically in relation to the main character.
These inked drawings can be considered illustration but are not based on any literary works other than the feelings and words in my head. Even so, I intended for the art form to be as looming and undefinable as my imagined narrative--yet both of them have the strong urge to pop out.
I start with ink on paper and color the image digitally.
