Inspired by the animal and plant species that live near and with humans, I create work that reflects these complex relationships and how those relationships shape me as a human animal. My work is an observation on our role as ecosystem builders and destroyers. These works are fragments of our daily environment, showing just how close nature is in our everyday lives, embedded in our homes and neighborhoods. I play in the space between two-dimensional and three-dimensional representation using colored pencil and acrylic paint to create works on paper. I create pocket universes for my ecosystems to exist and artifacts that reflect our built ecosystem.
