My art is rooted in the idea that portraiture is a way of exploring both inner and outer realities.
Using a style of painting that is best described as Disrupted Realism my works use a mix of abstraction and representation as tools to describe the anxiety of the human condition. Although I am not generally an anxious person, painting allows me to open up a range of emotion that I might not normally expose. When I paint someone else, I have a similar intent: to look behind their mask and see what kind of inner dynamism I can detect and portray.
