Going through the timeline of his life and seeing the respective hairstyles he chose, it seems like my dad always mirrored his full dedication to his role also with his hair. At times he needed to be conformal, at times he fully lived adventurously. From a buzz cut as a schoolboy to a sleek fringe up look when an adolescent, to middle length and long hair as a college student, then a modest and conformal look when he was about to marry my mom until a conservative side-parted short hair look took over as a teacher and father, which he only broke line with when he went bald during a sabbatical year. Now, he dons long hair. With retirement and the loss of parents within a few years, he found himself in search of a new, unwritten role. He looked at his greatest teacher, nature, and decided to let her take its course with his hair.
