After pandemic isolation, beginning my gender transition, & a traumatic accident I wasn’t inspired to make photographs; I was overwhelmed with pain and anxiety. A long awaited trip to the Netherlands reunited me with a dear friend, renewed my desire to look and to photograph, & ultimately, inspired this collection of photographs. Photographed in Dutch gardens & parks & along the canals, this work was made with attention to color, ambient light, & composition. As I wandered and looked at the beauty captured in these images I felt inspired, hopeful, & euphoric, quieting the pain I had been carrying. I was compelled to re-create these joyous emotions in my photographs & spent nearly a year editing & re-editing the images in postproduction. Enhanced & adjusted, the altered images evoke the serenity & joy I experienced.
