Toby Pikelin is a visual artist based out of Toronto. She graduated from McGill University in 2006 with a BA/BSc from McGill University with a major in Biology and in 2018 received her MFA from Concordia University. She has been part of group shows in Montreal, Vancouver, Toronto, Buenos Aires, and Mexico City and was an active stencil street artist for many years. During her MFA, Toby developed a practice in miniature dioramas and stop motion animation and is now exhibiting a solo show. She works as an art director and in the art department in film, as puppet maker and makes large scale installations for festivals. She has tree planted for 16 years and has planted at least 1.5 million trees all over British Colombia and this experience has greatly informs her art practice.
