In my childhood, I spent many hours outside on black arctic nights with the only source of light emitting from my house, studying the magical lit square on a blanket of snow formed by the light projecting through the living-room window. I consider this moment one of the most memorable experiences of embodied viewership, and this has framed my practice as an installation artist.
My name is Rina Lyshaug and I am a Norwegian-Sámi intermedia artist from Balsfjord (Báhccavuotna), Norway. I completed my BFA at Emily Carr University of Art + Design in 2019 and have shown at The Polygon Gallery in North Vancouver, Canada and my most recent work "Narratives From the Emptiest Place" will be shown in October 2020 as a public art installation commissioned by the City of Vancouver.
