Polina Stepanova is a visual artist, an alchemist priestess, a trend forecaster. The constellations led her from St-Peteresburg, where she studies arts, music and fashion to Antwerp, where she graduated from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, to Paris, London, and finally, Florence, where is is currently creating.
The inspiration of Polina Stepanova lies in a deep fascination with hylozoism: philosophical idea of matter having a soul. Each painting is a visual translation of concepts related to emergence of life on Earth, elements and primordial forces. The artist also inspires by ancient folklore and its rich symbolism. Similarly to an Alchemist or a Priestess, she seeks to transform matter into a powerful and charged object.
