Nicole Weniger, born 1987 in Innsbruck/Austria,
studied Transmedia Art (Brigitte Kowanz) and Art
and Communication (Barbara Putz-Plecko) at the
University of Applied Arts Vienna.
She works as a freelance artist and has worked as a
lecturer in photography at the Institute for Experimental
Architecture ./studio3 at the University
Innsbruck and at the Center of
Architecture (AzW) in Vienna.
In her works, Nicole Weniger thematizes the relationship
between people and their surroundings.
She explores territoriality and its points of friction.
What identity-forming influence do our surroundings
have on us and vice versa? What rubs off first? Be
it in the form of photographs, drawings or performances
in public space, the tension between people
and their surroundings is at the heart of her artistic
exploration.
