Neil Berkowitz is a visual artist living in Seattle. An elder artist, he feels an urgency to produce a compelling body of work. 2019 was Neil’s breakout year, with 46 works included in two solo shows, a group show with two other photographers, four juried shows, four publications, and a purchase by a large municipal collection. Five decades ago he pursued a dual major in photography at the Newhouse School at Syracuse University, followed by studio arts coursework at the New School and other institutions but stepped away from this path a few years later. He reestablished his arts practice six years ago. He began dividing his time between photography and printmaking two years ago and has recently begun incorporating additional media. He is an active volunteer in the digital media lab at Photographic Center Northwest in Seattle.
