Simple, minimalist artwork with maximal impact. Universal symbols and color combinations that look good on any wall. Repurposing crystal glassware (household ashtrays, Grandma's dishes), artist Max Marshall creates unique photographic mandalas using the darkroom process called photograms.
In combination with the 19th century printing process, Gum Dichromate, each print is handmade by mixing a light sensitive chemical with watercolor paint. Once dried, the enlarged photographic mandalas are exposed into the colorful fields of emulsion. Inspirations from Abstract Expressionism, Color Field Painting, and Neo-Tantrism are instilled in this historical photographic technique.
