I was born in Rostov-on-Don, USSR (now Russia) in 1984, grew up in the 90's, the strangest time for my country, that just had stepped away from totalitarianism into troubled times of capitalism, criminal rise and oligarchy. In the country with all things terribly unclear, I am desperate to find my spot of serenity. With enormous archive of photographs of last 15 years, I have embraced my previous experience and created narratives around images from the past with a hybrid of modern abstract techniques such as ‘fluid-art’ and ‘dirty pour’, suggesting the free flow of liquid acrylic paints on the photographs’ surface. In 2017, I moved to UK, where I continue to experiment with photography, focusing on building color field with vintage cameras and prisms, without subsequent retouching.
