Marcella Hayes Muhammad, whose art career stretches from the 1960’s to current times is constantly testing the bounds of her signature style of Plastic Space abstraction, developing ingenious painting and application techniques. She is constantly exploring the medium of oils allowing her experiences and research to guide her work. She is known for her attention to detail and the use of vibrant colors. Marcella creates a unique blending of multi dominant elements and rhythmic colors harmonized in as many as four or more colors in action at a time. She is a narrative artist that has research and meaning behind each of her paintings. Her main inspiration for her signature style is from Pablo Picasso’s cubism. She has translated the sharp angles of cubism into a curvature of light as it moves around forms.
