Kyle Donald Ross was born in Goffstown, New Hampshire in 1997. He is an artist whose analog black and white images utilize historic photographic tropes like spirit photography, portrait, landscape, and still life to explore the roles of the still image along with its shortcomings. Ross’ images are loosely autobiographical, and somewhat documentary. They smell of mildew and dead leaves, and examine implicit relationships to place. He holds a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Photography from Maine College of Art in Portland, Maine, where he lives and exhibits today. More of Ross’ work and writings can be seen in publications like Plant Petter (Emily Margarit Mason, Madeline Cass, 2020), Walking Research (Julie Poitras Santos, 2017), as well as the upcoming project from Gnomic Book, Primal Sight.
