Anchorage-born Kels Coker is an emerging oil painter living and working in Seattle, Washington, USA. Self-taught in all of her mediums, Kels discovered painting as a ritual for catharsis early in life and has since devoted herself to her practice. Her work has been hailed by art historian Lily Lacey-Hastings as “being cradled in a distant dream.” Her heavy-handed landscapes are influenced by romanticism and her time spent on rural solo travels. When not painting, you can find her dabbling in film photography, poetry, and music-making, and waking early to watch the sun rise.
