Born in Nashville, Tennessee in 1977, Kelly Williams earned her BA in Studio Art from Vassar College in 1999 and an MFA in Painting and Drawing from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2004. Williams has served as instructor at The Peck School of Arts at The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Watkins College of Art.
Williams attended painting residencies at Yale University’s Norfolk Summer School of Art in 1998, The Terra Foundation of American Art in Giverny in 2004, and The Ora Lerman Charitable Trust. In 2001, she received the prestigious W.K. Rose Fellowship from Vassar College. Six of Williams' paintings were acquired in 2019 by the U.S. Department of State for their Art in Embassies collection and are currently installed in the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan.
