In my work I mainly portray women who have had enough of the stereotypical roles they occupy, be it that of housewife, victim, superheroine, beauty queen or career woman. The domestic settings that surround them bear witness to the socially compelling ideal. The colors and textures radiate sensuality and glamour. But at the same time it depicts a 'tipping point' in which rebellion, a breakdown or a decadent excess are already lurking around the corner. On the horizon lies the lure of a freer life, which, it may seem, cannot be experienced without destroying the old patterns. The crockery must be smashed, the wallpaper on fire and the mask off.
