Haley Manchon grew up outside of Philadelphia and received her BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2018. She is represented by MK Apothecary in Collingswood, NJ, and has her work displayed on the 2nd floor of The People’s Store in Lambertville, NJ.
Haley's work considers the kinds of thoughts that, when she’s alone, often pull her from reality into far off places. Her recent portrait drawings use superimposed imagery of compounded features and patterns to present a visual, literal cycling of these thoughts and moments. The effect is often created by using one or multiple layers of dura-lar, which allow the marks of the drawing to delicately emerge and recede.
