Daniel Mariotti (1992, Mesa, United States) makes photos, drawings, prints, and sculptures taking inspiration from science and philosophy. In 2014 he received his BFA in Photography and a BFA in Printmaking from Arizona State University and shortly after became an artisan for fine art foundry, Bollinger Atelier. Working at the foundry has also allowed him to develop his exploration of bronze as a medium, which is his current focus.
His intent is to create instances of chance to result in a visual output that can be tweaked and tested until further questions arise. Through abstraction, he makes the viewer focus on the materiality of the object and delves into what happened to it. Recognizing that oftentimes the work itself is a tool in a greater process, he explores the structures and frameworks that we create in.
