Chris Lael Larson is a multi-disciplinary artist and photographer who lives and works in Portland, Oregon. His subject matter is the everyday absurd — the strange, ridiculous, and confounding ways we connect, things we consume, and things we hold dear. Chris approaches these ideas through both and studio and documentary practices.
In his studio work, Chris alters, combines, and stages found objects ranging from decontextualized building materials, manufacturing surplus and discarded household goods. We see still lifes of brand-name snack foods color-matched with common flora, cubist tableaus festooned with consumer packaging detritus, and selfie-stick mediated pseudo-portraiture.
