Amanacer is a self taught multimedia artist working primarily in oil, resin, and photography from her caribbean studio in Port-au-Prince. Raised by Canadian parents from age 7 in the hotbed of chaos and beauty that is Haiti, Amanacer discovered painting and photography as a way to process the transition to a new country. Her work is infused with tension of being blond and white while raised in the world's first free black republic, and reconciling her fluid Canadian-Haitian identity with fixed social expectations of race, beauty and nationality.
