I’m drawn to techniques that tap the subconscious. Such techniques let me escape my habit of chronic overthinking. Whether I’m in my Squamish, BC, Canada studio blowing ink with a straw, or in my office staring at my digital patterns, I see beings, creatures, and scenes in the ink or nestled within the patterns. My writing background starts spinning stories in my head until I decide what I see in the results, and then I build the rest of the piece from there.
I’m just as interested, however, in what other people see in my work. It’s fascinating to be at a venue and hear the many ways my pieces are interpreted.
