This series delves into my experience in early motherhood with my newborn daughter's colic. Drawing from the constricted, bound up, confined nature of the Victorian Era, I use many symbols from Victorian times to communicate the feelings, the loss of identity, and the struggles I felt being extremely isolated in a dark room for months trying to soothe someone who could not be soothed. In addition, the ocean is another symbol I drew upon which communicates the unpredictability of the colic. This series is a lead up to a larger project where each idea will be attacked in a deeper way with more complexity.
