Warm Lake

Warm Lake refers to Issyk-Kul, one of the lakes we explored while in Kyrgyzstan. I spent several weeks living a nomadic lifestyle among Kyrgyz shepherds and their flocks, sharing meals in their yurts and riding our horses over mountain passes, through crystal clear rivers, and across the steppe. One of the most stunning environments I've ever visited, it was no surprise to me to see the deep connection that the Kyrgyz people still have to their land. I was only there for a season, but from what I saw, it was clear to me that they have not abandoned the environment that has provided for them for so well for generations - which is something that cannot be said for every country these days.
