I worked with images of the Fast and the Furious actor Paul Walker for this body of work. I got into Paul Walker after looking at his IG and realizing he was dead for over a year. I'm really interested in how his image continues to be spread and even grows in spite of there being no person there to support it. A combination of organic fan-based reproduction combined with various for-profit organizations keeps the image alive. Fans show love through things like reposts, tribute videos, and drawings while industrial reproduction via film and interviews adds value by continuing to reproduce or in some cases even reanimate his body. I wanted to see how I would show these competing worlds in an artwork. I combined painted meat and printed images to stand in for these two worlds; the body and the image, love and capital.
