Vivian is a Chinese American artist and archivist who finds inspiration in shared histories and folk tales. Her work draws from traditions of feminist surrealism, early 20th century children’s book illustrations, and East Asian urban legends. Her work is motivated by a desire to understand and explore the shared aspects of humanity found in dreamscapes, liminal spaces, urban legends, and their associated feelings of simultaneous anxiety, awe, and curiosity.
