In June 2019 Lauren went back to England to visit her parents where she came across her great aunt Violet's 80 year old metal reusable razor. This discovery inspired her to create her new series, "Violet", which explores her personal use of plastic razors over her lifetime. The mark making in these pieces are very line focused which highlights: razor blades, razor strokes, the amount of plastic razors she's used in her lifetime, along with the number of individual hairs she has cut. The colours highlight her pale skin tone along with the numerous razor blade cuts she's endured since shaving. This body of work aims to raise awareness of our throw away culture and hopes to inspires others to move to using metal reusable razors.
