Viktorsha Uliyanova is a Russian writer and photographer focusing predominantly on portraiture and documentary. For her latest ongoing project “Veiled/ Unveiled“ Uliyanova studies two young sisters, the development of their identities as well as the parallels of their relationship within the surrounding world and one another. While the veil first appears merely as a playful ornament, it serves as a complex element of growth and visibility. The unraveling of the subjects from the fabric examines the vulnerability yet courage of young women’s character and role within the society.
