Hi, I am Weston Wei, an illustrator based in New York and originally from China. In my view, I am a 55% extrovert and 45% introvert, and that why I choose to live in the most crowded city in the world but spend lots of time in my room and draw alone. I have lived in the city since I was a child, and the concrete jungle built by high-rise buildings has a feeling of prosperity and loneliness, which is attractive to me. I moved from my hometown Shenzhen, the most developed city in southern China to Shanghai, the most modern city in China, then to New York. The meaning of the city to me tells itself.
My visual practice focus on communicating stories and emotions, the goal of my arts is to build an immediate and direct emotional connect with my audience. I love depicting the negative emotions, such as loneness anxiety and depression
