Joshua Barrigada is a Guam based curator and artist. His painting work has been an exploration of translucency, tropical light and the general fragility of life. He is exploring a style of rendering inspired by the translucent layers of surfwax. At first glance you may see a flat tactile surface, but look deeper to see previous layers of depth demacating the past while still being visible. His work explores the use of jellyfish, wildlife and tropical flora as a visual to reminder of not just the fragility of nature and the environment, but of our own fleeting and temporary existance.
