This was a series shot at a river at the Linville Gorge in Western North Carolina.My friend Anabelle and I decided to go dance by the river one day in late September and brought our cameras along with us. It began to rain and the water level continued to rise so we eventually decided to hike back to our cars. Just days later, hurricane Helene struck Western N.C. Nobody was expecting the devastation that was to follow this storm. My home is still healing and there is a long road to recovery, but these photos reflect one of my last days before the landscape of rural North Carolina changed forever. I decided to title it "To The Ocean of Your Love, I Am A River," lyrics from one of my favorite Adrianne Lenker songs that I think perfectly describes my fondness for N.C. and the community there.
