The artwork in The Sound of Stars is the materialization of how I understand the collision of the physical and the ephemeral.
I go through the process of recalling personal encounters and observations regarding environmental phenomena. I express this with abstract imagery, ranging in size from the small to large. With no effort to disguise my hand in the image, all the work is created with deliberate gestures ranging from fierce to tender in an effort to show how experiences felt.
Because color affects mood and can either evoke a sense of delight and comfort or uneasiness I use jewel-like colors for the pastel drawings suggesting mystery while my oil paintings colors are like Rococo Art, hoping to arouse ideas of flavorful sweetness.
Ultimately, my artwork is an exploration of materiality vs. the intangible.
