I worked at Dodger Stadium during the summer of 2022, shortly after moving back to Los Angeles. The job was terrible, and I’m emphatically not a sports person, but I liked spending time in a place of LA iconography, where people come to declare their identities as fans and members of a community. I hoped to capture the chaotic atmosphere of the stadium from the perspective of someone implicated but not quite immersed in their environment. Through images of Dodgers fans and employees, I aimed to create a portrait of the Stadium as a site of recreation and debauchery, fanaticism and joy. As I reckoned with the history of my surroundings, a narrative began to unfold, each subject I encountered becoming a character with a distinct relationship to this paradoxical setting.
