Phantom Pain is a medical symptom that felt after limb amputation, where patients still feel the limb as present and experience electric shock or needle pricks pain. This occurs due to the brain's misinterpretation of the limb's loss, creating a disconnect between perception and reality.
However, the word "Phantom Pain" in this work means the lingering emotional pain or traumas from the past that continue to affect the present time. The artist saw the connection between these 2 things and tries to juxtapose this emotional pain to the physical sensations of phantom limb pain, showing how unresolved experiences can haunt one person's mental health, personality, and worldview, using his own experience as an example.
