My work reflects inner states but I prefer to hide my nervousness and distress behind quasi philosophical maxims that I use as title descriptions. There is enough exhibitionistic confessionalism out there. My title for this series is an update of Socrates famous statement about " only knowing that he doesn't know anything . I go a step further to project something that hopefully reads & looks as if I would even relish in my own stupidity. Which in fact I do. For Socrates irony was a pedagogical tool for me 'stupidity" is a great excuse to acknowledge Duchamp's dictum that "painters are stupid" while at the same time admitting to myself that life is short and since I am more than halfway through it and still don't feel drawn to making video or performance art I better stick with what I do enjoy creating the most.
