The Bird Lamp was designed and created by Brad Stumpf. They are roughly life-size and are illuminated by a single LED bulb that produces no heat, allowing the lamps to safely remain on for any duration of time. They are modeled from memories of birds and are constructed using BFK paper folded over the Artist's hand or manipulated in a way that best captures the intended form. They are hand painted using watercolor paint. Once lit, their warm glowing bodies and lightweight appearance combine to create a representation of vulnerability and strength.
