I recently came back from a trip to Carrara, Italy. I shot a documentary on the marble quarries there and visited Pietra Santa, a town close to Carrara with lots of stone artists and galleries. On the way back in the twilight my Italian friend and me stopped at a arts high school that looked abandoned. Some kids on the parking lot ran away when they saw us assuming that we were cops. Two guys stayed and after they were sure that I was a photographer they let us into the building. The whole building was occupied by students, some of them skateboarding in the building. All doors and windows were blocked with chairs and tables. The kids told us that they occupied the school, without letting any teachers in and made their own classes to protest against the bad condition of the whole facility. Me and my Leica had a great time.
Teachers leave those kids alone
