The project explores the possibility of employing typographic signs freely in order to generate a new content.
Letterforms belonging to the words pair “full” and “empty” in both English and Chinese translations are randomly combined to describe a map of an “impossible” city.
The outcome is an experimental approach to map design using typographical elements.
The work had been produced during a workshop held at The Basel School of Design together with a group of designers from Taipei, Taiwan.
The goal was to explore foreign design processes, involving different languages and approaches of design.
The series of foldable city maps has been manually screen-printed in 10 copies for each color combinations.
