I have been an amateur photographer for twenty five years and have photographed subjects from astro to macro, products to events. Many paid gigs, but usually purely for fun.
I have always tried to find equipment or techniques that allow me to capture photographs that are difficult.
During the coronavirus lockdowns, I began buying vintage German research microscopes (in particular - Leitz Orthoplans - of which I now have four).
With my microscopes, I began a project of photographing crystals that I concocted on various melting and evaporating plates, in order to photograph in polarised light - with polarising equipment and my camera jerry rigged to the microscope.
This culminated in a successful exhibition of large prints in a fantastic London gallery in March 2023.
