I could stare at the people I love forever.
I never tire of representing the human face, the process of interpreting light and shadow with realistic precision and striking color - and often a bit of magic! Each piece evokes an intimate personal connection with the subject, celebrating the multiplicity of beauty. Especially in fellow queer folk, who are breaking through and being acknowledged and validated through continued representation. I draw people as I see them– powerful, gorgeous, brilliant– so that they can see their sessy selves. I draw myself for the same reason; self-portraits ground me when I question my own worth or abilities. I am doing a lot of work to see myself as a work of art. Everyone should have the opportunity to see themselves that way.
