I shot this with my Sony A7s and an old 50 mm Minolta lens for a project celebrating women of color with short hair. Makeda was the first subject I shot that day. I love the way she stands so defiantly, daring you to question her. She is comfortable in her representation and emotion. Solange's "Mad" states: you have the right to feel how you feel and to express that.
