INFLORESCENCE: An inflorescence is a group or cluster of flowers arranged on a stem that is composed of a main branch or a complicated arrangement of branches. Morphologically, it is the modified part of the shoot of seed plants where flowers are formed. (Wikipedia)
SOEY MILK has been exploring the themes of evolving, becoming and blossoming for several years, and with "Inflorescence," her upcoming solo show with Corey Helford Gallery—the painter’s fluid ideas are realized in dreamlike oil paintings, drenched in color and embedded with found objects and ideas, with painted-over wallpapers and fabrics comprising the background of some of her paintings, pulled from the rooms they were created in. In one piece, a feather from her chicken spontaneously made its way onto the canvas and was sealed in place by layers of paint.
