Inspired by the documentary ‘The Social Dilemma’. The "Social Theme Park" is a metaphor to describe how social media psychologically manipulates its users and gains the profit for tech companies. For example, tech companies play AI technology as a tactic to condition people to rely on social media, by building models to predict users’ next move and give them back dopamine hits when users pay their attention on social media. Which is similar to how people are attracted to the exciting rides in amusement parks. Each drawing of this series presents a condition the current social media caused, such as polarization and surveillance capitalism. My works show a little absurdity with a group of similar looking characters who immerse themselves in the social theme park, just as how people are decadent in the matrix of social media.
