My practice explores the language of painting and the alchemical, physical and playful nature of paint. I paint in oil, often layering my works through the use of collage, digital media or painting on layers of glass or acrylic. My paintings make comment on the physical act of painting as well as the nature of the medium. This particular body of work began as project to rescue 'failed' oil paintings. I selected marks 'that worked' from each painting and then photographed them, digitally slicing and collaging with them. The rescued pieces of the paintings trace the history of both the old and new works as well as my painting practice - what I have chosen to keep.
