Coming off a series of work based on minimalism, Sharwood aimed to experiment with new theories of painting that had a backbone of classical techniques, clashing with an unorthodox approach.
Leveraging his studies of the technical aspects of painting faces, Sharwood let go of his inhibitions and pushed himself to paint as fast as he could think, exposing his natural instincts so he could reflect upon an important point of reference allowing him to progress to another stage of painting.
