Scandal: On the Perception of the Self Through the Body
Scandal is a series of self-portraits exploring body-alienation and identity crisis rooted in a traumatic episode of bullying. Using masks, costumes, and performative gestures, I transform my body into multiple personas, challenging rigid beauty standards and embracing fluid identities. This work confronts the lingering effects of body-shaming and eating disorders, turning acts of vulnerability into empowering expressions of self-acceptance. By reshaping my image, I break free from societal constraints, inviting viewers to question perceptions of beauty and identity.
