The Studio Roso light installation ‘Reflektor’ was created for the Lumiere London festival 2018. The piece was located in St James’s market in central London next to Piccadilly Circus.
‘Reflektor’ transforms precise beams of light, breaks them up and cast them back in a completely different order. Instead of the controlled, engineered, we look for a cacophonic expression, something barely within our control.
The physical artwork is half of the installation and is carefully designed using computers and digital processes. The other half is the reflections which we only broadly can control and is the core of what we are interested in – to create a starting point, a catalyst and then let environment, weather, light levels etc play a role in the final output – the artwork in its entirety.
