These pictures were produced by casting and directing actors to perform “documentary” scenes. Mixing elements of the constructed and the found within a single picture, my practice seeks to question how we define truth and how the photographic medium can be a unique site for that redefinition.
Further complicating conventional notions of the real, each tableau is photographed in thousands of close-up pieces. These materials are meticulously combined to digitally construct each work. This process embodies the view that a photograph is never unadulterated; that each frame contains its own truth while others exist outside its borders.
