My current exhibition “Protagonist” celebrates women as agents, in charge of their destiny, as lead characters in today’s society. They are confident, proud and strong. The centrepiece “Ode to Feminism” pays homage to all the women that have fought a battle for a better future for women. I am so extremely excited about the time we live in as women are breaking down so many barriers. The painting is based on Eugene Delacroix’s work “Liberty leading the People”, commemorating the French Revolution in 1830 which toppled Kind Charles X of France. It is a woman who leads the French people over the barricades towards freedom. I will be forever grateful to the women that “climbed the barricades” for us, risking their reputation, their jobs, their livelihoods and in some cases their lives.
